Founded in 1956 by Francis Cardinal McIntyre, Marycrest is a skilled nursing facility with the special difference of a religious environment and orientation. The home has been operated continuously to the present day. Since 1962, it has been under the direction and sponsorshiop of the Religious Sisters of Charity from Ireland. In 2002, the Carmelite Sisters of the Most Sacred Heart of Los Angeles assumed sponsorship.
